This week in math rotations, we used mini erasers to help us create addition sentences. The students loved being able to organize their pile of erasers and come up with different additions problems on their own. Can you tell by the halloween erasers that we're excited for October?!
The past few weeks, we've spent a lot of time in Writer's Workshop learning about types of writing and what to write about. On Tuesday, we read a book about coming up with story ideas and then the students were able to write their own! We have worked on our stories throughout the week and are continuously adding details to both our writing and our pictures. We can't wait to share the final product! This week, we dove into science! After practicing our science safety, the students were able to be hands-on in an exploding experiment! (Nothing crazy, don't worry) With a little baking soda, vinegar, and food coloring, the kids were able to watch the still baking soda turn into a colorful fizz! Enjoy these pictures capturing their priceless reactions: ...STEAM carts! (STEAM standing for science, technology, engineering, art, and math) The kids have had a long week between MAP testing and rainy days. We spent some time today de-stressing by using our STEAM cart manipulatives that allow students to use new materials to explore and create. I love seeing them think outside of the box and brainstorm together! |
